Architect Frank Verplanken designed the Destelbergen house as his family home in 1991 and has borrowed elements of Japanese and Scandinavian modernism to influence its organic shape. It touches lightly on its garden setting, though the impact of its curving facade is felt across the three-bedroom property.

Arching wooden beams span the double-height living space, while bespoke cabinetry and fittings follow the undulation of the roof and walls. Exterior walls appear to ‘float’ above pools of water, and the glass facade floods interiors with light.
