Textures come to the fore inside Lima restaurant Mérito, whose interiors are akin to a rustic cabin in the woods.
Sitting in the Barranco neighbourhood, the Peruvian dining spot is a collaboration between practice Ghezzi Novak and designer Pamela Remy of studio Blanco. The practice stripped out the building to reveal its original shell, unearthing thick adobe brick walls made out of clay, sand and straw.
They have been left raw, and provide inspiration for rugged additions to the space, including slatted wooden walls, slate tiles and a carbonised wooden bar. Remy has also introduced deep blue panels of colour that hone a moody ambience.
Mérito’s menu meanwhile puts a modern twist on South American classics such as pork belly arepas, conchas y arracacha and pulpo y ocas.
