Frank Lloyd Wright’s Neils House asks for $2.57m in Minneapolis

Minnesota boasts over a dozen Frank Lloyd Wright landmarks, including Usonian gem The Neils House – now listed for $2.75m.

Wright built the Minneapolis property in a Usonian style for stone merchant Henry J Neils and his wife Frieda. It features a typical L-shaped floorplan, with large expanses of glass that peek out onto the woodland surround, and Wright’s trademark red flooring.

Unique features include marble, stone and wood-panelled walls, and bespoke furniture designed by Wright, including an integrated sofa in the soaring family room. Sliding glass doors and windows are all framed by aluminium – an unusual feature for the architect.

According to Curbed, the Neils House has been on and off the market since 2018, when it first listed for $3.4m. The 2,511 sq ft home is now on the market with Sotheby’s International Realty.
