Moscow coffee spot Cooker’s Gourmet Cafe could be straight from a Wes Anderson movie thanks to its pastel shades and symmetrical design.

The bistro on central Moscow’s Kuznetsky Most is the brainchild of ‘Volkonsky’ bakery founders Alexander and Stephanie Garez, and Anastasia Nikiforova. They enlisted Russian studio Veter Design & Architecture to craft its instagramable interiors.

Veter has dressed the building’s stark industrial bones in soft pink shades (including its exposed ceiling pipes) and paired them with hits of mint green and navy blue.

‘Fragmented’ white tiles (whose shard-like shapes are inspired by the cracking surface of a frozen lake) have been used for the flooring, and navy blue ‘railway’ style benches flank the outside walls of Cooker’s Gourmet Cafe.

Oversized oval mirrors exaggerate the volume of the cafe restaurant, while hanging strip lights pay homage to the the building’s industrial roots. A central island informally divides the space in two and displays freshly produced products from the café’s kitchen.

Muscovites can tuck into a menu of spicy eggs Benedict, pastries and crepes, while larger mains include crab risotto, pasta, pies and salads.
