A glass slide 1,000 ft up the West Coast’s tallest building has opened to the public.

The transparent Skyslide takes thrill-seekers from the 70th to the 69th floor of Downtown LA’s US Bank Tower, which has undergone a $50 million renovation by design firm Gensler. Its opening follows last week’s launch of the Carsten Höller-designed slide at the Orbit tower in London.

Although the glass that the Skyslide is built from is just an inch thick, the structure has been designed to withstand hurricanes and earthquakes.

A new rooftop complex and observation deck has also opened, with a restaurant to arrive later this year.

Tickets cost $25 for the observation deck, while the slide costs an extra $8.

The US Bank Tower, originally called the First Interstate World Center, was designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners and built in 1989.
