American artist Doug Aitken brought his multi-disciplinary exhibition Station to Station to London’s Barbican Centre earlier this month, calling on the talent of 100 artists to take part in his ‘living’ artwork.
Musicians patten, Hisham Akira Bharoocha (Soft Circle), Stephen Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire) and Lonelady took cues from the building to create a series of new tracks riffing off the structure’s concrete forms and cavernous spaces.
Here, they talk about the relationship between music and architecture, explored in their Brutalist soundtracks and pressed to 12″ vinyl by The VF Press.
‘June 30th’ by Hisham Akira Bharoocha & patten and ‘Fear of Colours (Barbican Version)’ are available to pre-order now
