Albert Frey’s Cree House has hit the market in California’s Cathedral City, and the paint’s still fresh from its recent renovation.
Frey is well known for his work in Palm Springs and he designed the one-bedroom California property in 1955, shaping it to fit its hillside surroundings. Boulders surround the property, which is partially raised above the ground on stilts.
Cree House’s present owner spent a year carefully restoring its original midcentury details and opened it up to the public during Modernism Week 2019. It’s now listed for $2.5m with HK Lane Real Estate.

Future owners can enjoy 8 acres of rocky land from the home’s huge terrace, or through its floor-to-ceiling windows. Original kitchen and bathroom fixtures remain intact, and period replacements have been tracked down for damaged parts of the home.
