Argentinian architect Emilio Ambasz hit the nail on the head when he said, ‘In reality some images or drawings have a greater impact than many buildings that are built.’

Illustrators can bring a human touch to even the most austere structures. And whether they’re drawing from real life or pulling from their imagination, their Instagram feeds work as both portfolio and sketchbook, documenting their process, inspiration, and, of course, the final product.

We’ve picked out a handful of our favourite illustrators who bring buildings to life in ink and wash, paint and pixel.
