Sawn-off cars dotted the runway of Virgil Abloh’s Off-White runway show in Paris last night inside the AccorHotels stadium as a rain of confetti fell from its ceiling.

According to Abloh, the brand ‘had to switch venues cause a bunch of dresses couldn’t fit thru [sic] the doorway of the first venue’. Models including Bella and Gigi Hadid and their mother Yolanda walked down the runway in hybrid designs that blurred the line between high couture and streetwear, including Arc’teryx outdoor performance jackets.

But that wasn’t the only thing they had to get through the door: a Mercedes Benz was slung on its side, while segments of disembowelled cars appeared embedded into the floor of the venue in the city’s Bercy neighbourhood.

Red lighting set the tone for the show – renamed ‘Slightly Off’ from ‘Spin Cycle’ a few days before the spectacle. This was echoed by glittering red confetti which showered the catwalk as the performance hit its pinnacle.
