Danish practice Space Copenhagen has put a moody spin on Scandinavian design inside new Copenhagen restaurant, LouLou.

The new eatery is the studio’s latest collaboration with Michelin-starred Danish chef Bo Bech. White walls and teak have been banished in favour of a rich colour palette of earthy brown, dusky blue and grey.

‘In contrast to a lot of Space Copenhagen’s projects that carry a very Nordic touch, Loulou has a dreamier, more magical feel inspired by the neon-lit metropolitan light,’ the practice says.

Buttery walls have been paired with velour navy lounge chairs designed by the practice, oak furniture and grey carpets. Meanwhile mirrored walls maximise the sense of space in the dining room.

‘LouLou is about old virtues – it’s an adult restaurant where, among velor, carpets and large curtains, you can have a nice fun evening for 400 kr,’ said Bech.

The restaurant is the latest in a flurry of projects by Space Copenhagen, which also created the interiors of Bech’s experimental Copenhagen outpost, Geist, as well as Noma and new meatpacking district eatery, Musling.
