Brutalist villa by Peter Tachelet is for sale in Brussels

Concrete and glass combine across this Brussels villa by architect Peter Tachelet – on the market for €995,000.

Villa C was inspired by the work of Tadao Ando and wears its concrete shell with pride. Its façade is a solid concrete plane, punctured by glass apertures that offer a glimpse inside the building’s core and through to the landscape beyond.

The five-bedroom Brutalist home is on the market via ArchitectenWoning. It comprises a ‘sunken’ concrete box and a glass-fronted volume that peeks onto the surrounding trees of its Beersel site.

Tachelet has inserted a gangway-style staircase that rises through the height of the 400 sq m Brussels property, connecting its main living spaces. These feature floor-to-ceiling windows, wooden floors and exposed support beams.

Several living rooms and terraces are dotted across the Belgian home’s three levels, while most of the bedrooms are tucked into the lower volume, which is embedded in a grassy slope for privacy. Its flat roof has been turned into a reflection pool, planted with reeds.
