French designer Ora Ito has created a nomadic shipping container hotel that can be installed in less than a day.

‘Flying Nest’ was made for French hotel group AccorHotels. It comprises ‘islands’ made up of six 12 sqm containers, stacked on top of each other and clad in wood to give them a chalet-like feel. Each room has a living room, bathroom and picture window, and modules are connected via a terraced walkway.

The mobile hotel takes half a day to assemble and is self-sufficient. Flying Nest can be installed on a range of terrains, including desert and mountainsides. Presently, the roving hotel is 1,800 metres above sea level at the Avoriaz ski resort where it will host skiers throughout the winter from €150 per night.
