Classic car enthusiast Chris Page bought the storied warehouse and workshop, which dates back to 1918, three years ago. He masterminded its adaptive reuse as a home for his family – and collection of motorcars.
The five-bedroom loft, which has its own private entrance, is spread over the building’s upper floors. Inside, the living room is capped by a soaring steel-trussed roof, and there are hardwood floors throughout as well as tons of exposed brickwork.
Above the living area are two bedrooms, while a cinema room, two studies and a grand foyer complete the apartment’s floorplan.
A massive garage, with exposed timber ceiling, and auto shop currently occupy the Melbourne property’s ground level, though according to Domain, the tenant’s lease has run out and could be renegotiated with the new owner.
The 1,000 sq m converted tram shed – which has also been a mediterranean grocery store and administrative offices for tramways in the last 100 years – is on the market via John Morello of Jellis Craig.
